AdBlue®

AdBlue® is a 32.5% solution of technical grade urea in deionised water and is consumed by every BS VI / Euro VI vehicles operating across globe. AdBlue® is a clear, non-toxic liquid that is safe to handle and does not damage the environment. AdBlue® is not a fuel or a fuel additive.

Product Information

Technically it is a colourless, synthetically produced 32.5% solution of urea in deionized water. AdBlue® is non-toxic and 100% environment friendly . It is easy to store and user friendly with no ill effects.

About SCR Technology

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is an advanced active emissions control technology system that injects a liquid-reductant agent through a special catalyst into the exhaust stream of a diesel engine. The reductant source is usually automotive-grade urea, otherwise known as AdBlue® . AdBlue® sets off a chemical reaction that converts nitrogen oxides into nitrogen, water and tiny amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2), natural components of the air we breathe, which is then expelled through the vehicle tailpipe.

SCR technology is designed to permit nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction reactions to take place in an oxidizing atmosphere. It is called "selective" because it reduces levels of NOx using ammonia as a reductant within a catalyst system. The chemical reaction is known as "reduction" where AdBlue® is the reducing agent that reacts with NOx to convert the pollutants into nitrogen, water and tiny amounts of CO2. The AdBlue® can be rapidly broken down to produce the oxidizing ammonia in the exhaust stream. SCR technology alone can achieve NOx reductions up to 90 percent.

2. Installed Depot Supply Method

IBC

Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) is a common method of storing liquids in lubricant and chemical industry. They hold capacity of around 1000L of AdBlue® and are cost effective for businesses having AdBlue® requirement on daily basis i.e. Transport and nodal hubs. IBC does not require a fixed or permanent installation and have flexible location feature.

Mini Bulk: (Proposed)

It is larger in size compared to IBC. It requires constant refilling to be done by AdBlue® producer and it can hold around 4000 to 7000 L of AdBlue®. The cost/liter of AdBlue® is lower than other methods but the storage requires a higher investment in the beginning .

Storage and Handling

AdBlue® requires certain temperature guidelines to be maintained to keep the effectiveness and quality of the product intact. AdBlue® will freeze if its temperature falls below -11°C, and the urea content can decrease if stored at temperatures in excess of 30°C. However, AdBlue® is not harmed by the freezing process and once back to normal temperature will retain its concentration and quality. In areas where the temperature is always higher, it is necessary to ensure that AdBlue® is not stored in direct sunlight.
